Mr. Hornthal joined Crosly & Associates in 2007 and became President of the firm in 2011. He has steered Crosly & Associates into its position as the leading executive search firm in the analytics recruiting industry. Much of his and Crosly & Associates' successes are the direct result of David's ability to leverage his prior experiences and the knowledge gained while leading teams of analysts at top-tier consulting and financial services organizations.
Mr. Hornthal began his career as a quantitative analyst at ZS Associates, the world's leading management consulting firm in sales and marketing within the pharmaceutical industry. He then joined the risk management department at Discover Financial Services as a quantitative analyst. His career at Discover generated annual promotions and he quickly was named one of the youngest managers in the company. He also set a company record for the most adopted innovations by a headquarters employee in the 20+ year history of the company. While at Discover he worked in a variety of business functions including authorizations, collections, transational fraud, check-kiting and payment fraud, originations risk management and portfolio risk management.
David's experience in the recruiting industry began during high school and college, when he worked part-time at Hersher Associates Ltd., a retained executive search firm specializing in the healthcare industry.
David holds an MBA (with distinction) from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
He received a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, where he ranked #1 in his class and was awarded a full university sponsored Fellowship. His studies concentrated on Statistics, Operations Research and Financial Engineering. Prior to this, he graduated Summa cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering, also from Purdue.
David is a proficient SAS, SQL and VBA programmer with additional programming experience in R, SPSS, Stata, and C.
Robert Parker
Vice President
Mr. Parker worked as a statistician for 26 years, across a wide variety of industries, before joining Crosly in early 2013. During his career, he has held positions with
Los Alamos National Labs,
Intel,
Capital One, and
Kelley Blue Book. He has consulted with most of the top 30 banks in the U.S. and Europe, and with other financial institutions including Aflac and Visa. He has worked on a diverse set of problems, including growing pine seedlings, detecting buried land mines, forecasting losses with auto and home loans, and forecasting auction prices of used cars.
Robert holds a Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Grinnell College in Iowa, a Masters Degree in Statistics from Iowa State University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of New Mexico.
Robert has advanced programming skills in SAS, SQL, Matlab, C, R, and Fortran. His preferred tools for teaching, proof-of-concept, sales support and influencing business decisions are Excel with VBA/SQL and SAS-JMP.
